What is Tagalog Nationalism?

Tagalog Nationalism is based on the following presuppositions:

  1. That nationalism is good and
  2. That to be a good nationalist, one must be a good Tagalog.

Adherents of this ideology are usually characterized by:

  1. A belief in the concept of unity in uniformity, specifically that in the ideal Philippines, every Filipino citizen should be a Tagalog, or at least able to speak the Tagalog language.
  2. An anti-English language attitude.
  3. A ‘nationalistic’ belief in a strong central unitarian government for the Philippines.

Dr. Jose Dacudao of SOLFED, Inc. is one of the first intellectuals in the Philippines to recognize this ideology.
