What are the salient provisions of the Philippine National Language Policy according to the 1987 Constitution?

  1. That the Philippines has a national language (section 6, sentence 1).
  2. That this national language shall be known as Filipino (section 6, sentence 1).
  3. That this language shall be developed and enriched on the basis of existing Philippine and other languages (section 6, sentence 2).
  4. That this language is the medium of official communication (section 7, sentence 1).
  5. That this language is the medium of instruction (section 7, sentence 1).
